“The same government which has filed 22 cases against me for holding protests, hasn’t filed a single one against the actor,” Jagan alleged
YSRCP President Y S Jaganmohan Reddy lashed out at actor-politician and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan on Sunday, and alleged that the latter had a secret tie-up with the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh.
Jagan was speaking in Gajuwaka at the outskirts of Visakhapatnam, one of the two constituencies where Pawan is contesting from. The YSRCP chief said that the fight was between a local hero (his candidate T Nagireddy) and an actor (Pawan), and asked the people to choose wisely.
“From the last 9 years, the local hero has been fighting for the people. When the actor came here to file his nomination, TDP flags could be seen,” Jagan claimed.
“The actor has been in a secret alliance with (Chief Minister) Chandrababu Naidu for the last four years, even though they claim to have snapped ties in front of the public. This is clear because the same government which has filed 22 cases against me for holding protests, hasn’t filed a single one against the actor for the same,” the YSRCP chief added.
Jagan’s attack on Pawan comes as many observers speculate if the JSP and TDP have an understanding. While Pawan Kalyan has maintained that he is equally harsh on both the TDP and the YSRCP, analysts say that the actor-politician seemingly has a soft corner for Naidu.
They also point to the fact that the TDP had almost fielded sitting minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, a strong leader, from Gajuwaka, but later replaced him with Palla Srinivasa Rao, improving Pawan’s chances of victory.
Meanwhile, Pawan has repeatedly hit out at Jagan about his tie-up with Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, saying earlier, “KCR has insulted Andhra people before and after state bifurcation. How can Jagan have a secret pact with KCR when his father late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy was against him? He had criticized KCR several times, but his son Jagan is going hand in hand with him, leaving his father’s ideals aside.”
Elections to the 175-member Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats in the state are scheduled to be held on April 11.
